Lakota Pecan Tree is a grafted, papershell pecan cultivar. The Lakota Pecan tree is a cross between a 'Mahan' and a 'Major' that was cultivated in 2007 by the USDA. The Lakota variety has excellent scab resistance, likely inherited by its parent, the 'Major'. The Lakota Pecan tree is listed as a type 2 and is considered one of the very few early-season producers of any type 2 pecan cultivars. For the best results, plant the Desirable Pecan tree with the Lakota Pecan tree to see enhanced pollination, producing an abundance of pecans. (USDA Zones 6-9)
